The gear we use

Everything we actually run to stream our own home into Jumboshack — the heat-pump sender, air-quality monitors, and more. Grouped by system, each with a link and a full build guide.

Geothermal heat-pump sender

A small Raspberry Pi reads your WaterFurnace over its Modbus port and streams it to your dashboard. Pick one Pi kit plus the RS-485 adapter — the rest is optional.

CanaKit Raspberry Pi 3 B+ Starter Kit (32 GB) A complete kit (board, SD, power, case) and our go-to in-stock pick right now. More than enough for the sender. ~$110
CanaKit Pi Zero 2 W Starter Kit A complete tiny Pi (SD, power, case). Plenty for the sender. (The Zero kits have been selling out — the Pi 3 B+ above is the safe pick.) ~$40
USB-to-RS485 adapter (FTDI)REQUIRED The wire into your heat pump's Modbus bus. $10–15
Cat5e patch cable (3 ft) Cut one end to tap the Aurora's AID Tool RJ-45 port. ~$5
CanaKit PiSwitch Inline power switch to cleanly power-cycle the sender. Optional. ~$10
CanaKit Pi 5 Starter Kit PRO — Turbine Black (128 GB, 8 GB RAM) Overkill for the sender, but a capable box if it'll also run other things. ~$260

Weather stations

Have a personal weather station? Stream temperature, wind, rain, pressure and humidity into your dashboard too. These all-in-one stations pair well with Jumboshack — the weather guide shows how to connect one.

Ambient Weather WS-2902 Affordable, popular all-in-one — wind, rain, temp, humidity, UV/solar — with WiFi and an open API. A great starting point. see listing
WeatherFlow Tempest Sleek all-in-one with no moving parts (sonic wind, haptic rain) and a clean cloud API. The premium pick. see listing
Ecowitt Wittboy (GW2001) 7-in-1 array with a haptic rain sensor and strong local + API access — excellent value for tinkerers. see listing

Computers & AI machines

Any box that can POST JSON can stream into a Custom tab — CPU, GPU, RAM, load, disk.

NVIDIA DGX Spark Grace Blackwell desktop AI supercomputer. Stream its GPU/VRAM/RAM/load into a Custom tab. (Supply-constrained lately — the Amazon link may show unavailable; also sold via NVIDIA Marketplace, Micro Center, PNY and OEM partner systems.) ~$4,699
